The Secret to Going Pro

Updated: Feb 5

There is a foundation you can build to stair step your way into the professional soccer world.

I'll get to the point and make it simple for you.

  • Juggle

  • Ball Mastery

  • Wall Passing

  • 1v1s

  • Play barefooted in the sun.

  • Play multiple sports.

  • 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 (SMALL SIDED GAMES)

  • Play everywhere. Play for fun. Enjoy to Play.

  • Sleep well. Eat clean & enough.

  • Stay humble.

Do this consistently and you can make it.

I think I could write all day on this.

Here's a little more on what I consider the fundamentals

Juggling - is a hack for your touch. Do this every day INTENTIONALLY and your touch will get better (actually focused and trying to keep it up).

Ball Mastery - this is important for learning skills so opponents can't catch you.

Wall Passing - this is also for your touch when receiving and one-time passing.

Play barefooted - so many of the world's best and fastest players were poor and grew up playing barefooted on the streets. We're meant to walk without shoes, we lose function in our feet from wearing shoes. Everything starts at the feet. This will help your touch and body awareness and coordination so you don't look like Bambi out there.

Play multiple sports when you're young - you become more athletic and it increases your overall athleticism. I played street basketball in middle school. I think we underestimate how much playing sports with our hands helps ball-tracking with our eyes. And who doesn't want to be more athletic?

1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 (SMALL SIDED GAMES) - this get's you lots of touches. Different scenarios. It's quicker than 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11. It's like playing your YouTube video on 3x speed. And you can't hide. You're responsible for your mistakes + successes.

Play everywhere. Play for fun. Enjoy to Play. - take the pressure off, enjoy it.

You've probably noticed you play better that way don't you?

Life is short, enjoy the journey and the game.

One day you'll remember kicking the ball over the fence or breaking your parent's windows (guilty...) It's a beautiful game.

Sleep well. Eat clean & Enough - the essentials for recovering. When you train you wear your body out. Sleep is when you recover the most, get 8-9 hours and take naps when you need them. Sleep also affects your mood, you grumpy heads (@ing myself here). Food is energy, your body needs energy to repair itself. Junk doesn't repair your body optimally, you need the right foods.

Stay humble. Soccer is a cold world. You will be humbled. So stay humble, hungry, and learn. Find people who can teach you. Surround yourself with player's that are better than you. Become a great player and a better person.

Get to training.
